An Elton Summer

People seem to be deeply in love with the new Toy Story and I am absolutely one of them. I did laugh, I may even have cried and I certainly felt as though my pennies were well spent and you should go and see this fucking film. Pixar are seminal wizards of the heart, they will get you in your feel place and as far as these characters go, I could not be more invested. Also, Keanu Reeves. Again!

Ms Regard

Miss June (NZ) are something of a bang between Sonic Youth and Le Tigre. The Lady Ess suggested we try The Old Blue Last for some high quality impromptu noise. I made it about halfway up their crooked staircase before sanctioning whatever was going on in that room. Annabel Liddell is a presence to be reckoned with and the band are loud in the best of ways.

Blue Boot Trinkets

Bob Dylan’s, ‘The Bootleg Series, Vol.1-3 is a beautiful collection of rarities on 5LP, featuring some songs you know, some songs you don’t and very little of anything you may have heard before. Laid out here are the whens, wheres, whys and hows of each thirty-eight never before officially released recordings. ‘The Big Lebowski’ has everyone from Dylan to Nina Simone on it and a really beautiful, storming flamenco rendition of ‘Hotel California’ by Gipsy Kings on side two that needs to be played all. the. time and if Paul Mann’s cover artwork never grants him a sainthood then I honestly don’t know what kind of world we live in.

F R

Malek appears to capture Freddie’s character with aplomb; swagger, frailty, warts and all. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ could well be a rock n’ roll triumph of cinematic eye candy that refuses to go quietly into that dark night without meaning something and shouting that thing from the roof of the fucking stadium.

House Solo

The prop design in Starwars has always been a big thing for me. I have well and truly lost count of the hours I’ve spent ‘window shopping’ on Etsy for a DL-44. Luke or Han’s, I can’t decide and it may be even more iconic for me personally than The Falcon. And I have that tattooed on my god damned arm.
