The Shadow Angelic
I am assured by people that today is a day. More specifically, it is the day that the Roman emperor Caligula accepted the titles of the Principate, bestowed on him by the Senate. Also notable for this date, was the first concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Otto Nicolai. Oh, PAX East is happening and those murderers over at Gearbox are preparing to flip your lid. And that is all. So, you know, don’t at me.
‘Shadows Die Thrice’. That’s their sequel and you heard it here first. It could also be the name for RKG’s inevitably excellent let’s play [not ‘Slugs Try Thrice’?] and I may have suggested as much during a stream of theirs not long ago. Should you not have already absorbed the above video, I recommend you engage with what can only be described as the summit of critical assesment for this medium, with all haste. It is the embodiment of their spirit and rewarding as fuck. Sekiro is the kind of thing upon which dynasties are founded and I feel like FromSoftware are actually getting their talons into my weak, reluctant hide with this one, in a way that they did not with the Soulsborne games. Those were interactions wherein I was more the mouse than the cat and I crawled beneath a sofa the very second their attention was diverted. Or I got bored with the mouse and I actually was the cat. And the mouse had TEETH. What was the question?
I did indeed purchase vinyl from the flea market while up in the ‘Pool before NYE. I don’t think there are many scenarios in which I walk past a ‘Best Of Vangelis’. It’s Vangelis. I’m not implying that I am familiar with tracks the like of ‘Pulstar’ or ‘Albedo 0.39’ but I want to be. If you had at least a passing obsession with the sountrack to the original Blade Runner or even the new Blade Runner [courtesy of Mr. Zimmer], then it’s that. It’s Vangelis. It is worth noting that this was released in 1978. Blade Runner hadn’t even happened yet and this is his Best Of. I’m not sure what that says about a person in their mid thirties but I am reevaluating much of my life. Diana Ross and The Supremes and The Temptations are another collective that has the ability to do that, particularly when combined in their ultimate form. It’s a 1960’s musical parallel to Voltron and - I know that it’s been said many a time before but - they just don’t produce stuff like this any more.
These were also found on that disposable I unearthed earlier this week. There’s a cute photo of those two on NYE, some bonkers-pretty light round the village that I caught at some point and a couple of other interesting snaps as well. Mr. T always takes a great burn shot, particularly when supplied with a beer in one of the wee hours of the morning. It’s either a life skill or a gift and perhaps we can work out which between us? Not a bad roll, all things considered. Mr. B and family are headed back to the shire with me in May (I’m sure it was May) and The Nature should be in full swing then.
I’ll take more film and write you.
